Dear Moon Explorers,
The dawn of a new year brings us a new Lunar cycle at the Moonbase. We are making a solemn pledge to show consistent signs of life in order to begin the re-colonization of our beloved community.

We’d like to start this communication by extending a sincere and heartfelt apology to our beloved community. We recognize our shortcomings in engaging directly with the community. The foundational core of the MoonTools team is one of development. That, however, is not an excuse for the lack of community engagement we’ve displayed. As such, we have been working hard behind the scenes to restructure from the inside out. Not only emphasizing development and platform updates but other aspects such as community engagement, growth, business development, and branding. We know many of you have been with us from the beginning, supporting us and waiting patiently. The time has come as we embark on the next phase of our journey, for which we fully intend on bringing the community along with us.

Embarking on New Missions at Moonbase

First, what’s been up with MoonTools? You may not have heard from us for a while — we’ve been expanding the capacity to transition into a revenue-sharing mechanism exclusive to our community, where the MOONS token utility is captured through a DAO governance model with a growth trajectory.

Surprised? Let’s find out more🥳

Discord Server Reassimilation

MoonTools believes in the wisdom of the community to unlock conversations that drive growth and adoption. Missioned to build a cohesive digital community, we are revamping our Discord server, wherein users interact and innovate without constraint. The overall intent is to foster MoonTools as the genesis space for decentralized intelligence and collaboration. So join us in the #🗣general channel on Moonbase!

While reforming our identity, we did not want to be clique-centered. Therefore, tiered token-gated channels on Discord will be eliminated to unite individuals as one group of Moon Explorers. Making our Discord server accessible to everyone is an important stepping stone to encompassing the ethos of MoonTools, one of which is to transform into a community-governed decentralized finance analytics platform, be it for the newbie or the professional.

MoonTools app access for Moon Rangers (formerly Space Whales) will remain as is. Committed MOONS token holders will seamlessly benefit from exclusive perks, rewards, and access as our partnerships expand.

There is a captcha bot verification process to eliminate bots from infiltrating, so make sure to follow the verification process to gain full access to all of our public channels.

Team Expansion

The team at the Moonbase has always been relatively small and developer-driven. However, we are now ready to expand the team as we focus on growth, development, branding, and the community for 2022.

Introducing the new members of the Moon Patrol

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new Community Manager — Shiv Chan. Shiv will be responsible for the development of the MoonTools community, namely moderating on Telegram and Discord, sharing important MoonTools updates, and organizing community events. Shiv is an avid believer in the spirit of blockchain with a background in literature and translation (Chinese and English). As an expert in communications, Shiv has experience with community engagement and growth across social media. She will utilize her professional skills to build bridges between the MoonTools team and the Moon Explorers.

The other new team member that we’re excited to work with is CryptoSahm, who will be leading the creative direction, branding, and marketing. Sahm comes with six years of experience working with global brands like Nike, IKEA, and Samsung on a regional and international scale. He’ll be working on driving the MoonTools brand aesthetic forward, establishing us as the premier DEX analytics explorer.

Last but not least, you may have noticed a new team member within our Discord server getting things organized for our community. Eclipse is an operations, product, and business development growth specialist. He comes to MoonTools with over 20 years of experience that spans multiple industries and various skills that crossover. He has worked with cryptocurrency projects to achieve pre-seed and seed funding rounds. He will be working with MoonTools to grow the team, expand its partnerships, establish new revenue models and identify opportunities for growth.

We hope you’ll stop in and say hello to our new team members as we all look to re-engage the community and reinvigorate the brand while we look to level up the business operations from within the Moonbase.

The MoonTools Brand

We’ve been looking to revise our branding for some time now. However, being a small, development-centric team has made it challenging to focus on the brand’s front-facing components. With the onboarding of CryptoSahm, that’s coming to an end. Instead, we’ve begun to put dedicated attention and resources to what’s needed to best represent MoonTools to the general public, users, and potential investors.

Branding

As such, the first order of business on CryptoSahm’s agenda has been to put attention on the MoonTools brand itself by refining the brand toolkit. Below is an example of some of the new visuals developed for our brand relaunch in orbit.

Website

The next major component of our brand redeployment is the website. We’ve been directing users that navigate to the moontools.io URL directly to the app for some time now. However, we realize that this was never the last resort. We intend to always provide a user-centric experience to anyone interacting with the MoonTools brand, whether on the surface or within the app, right through to our business interactions with partners.

Although we are still some time away from launching the full-featured website, we wanted to share a sneak peek of the new landing page we’re building. We hope you’re as excited as we are as we near the launch of the next iteration and long-anticipated MoonTools.io website.

The MOONS DAO

Many thanks as our developers work diligently on iterations of the MoonTools app, striving to become the premier Web3 DEX analytics and ultimate DeFi utility platform. MoonTools is always a work in progress. Our focus for 2022 will be our business model, both business to consumer (B2C) and business to business (B2B). We’ll be exploring ways of leveraging our unique datasets and tools to help both retail DeFi participants as well as projects or partners looking to utilize our well-aligned products and services to elevate their platforms.

Ultimately, MoonTools envisions aligning incentives with holders of MOONS. To achieve this goal, one of the core underlying areas to start with is in returning MOONS token holders a portion of the revenue generated from both MoonTools’ integrated services and B2B product and service solutions. With this, MOONS DAO comes into play. As pieces are coming together, MOONS stakeholders will be delegated voting power on active proposals that shape the MoonTools platform over time. This transition will take some time. However, it is in our sights as something we aim to achieve. In the meantime, we will do our best to actively engage our community to get a sense of the main feature requests.

As MoonTools seeks community-driven governance, we look forward to the community-taking responsible ownership of important aspects achieved through efficient coordination mechanisms.

Recruiting for the Moon Patrol

Your contributions matter! We’re looking to onboard a few moderators to join the Moon Patrol. Head over to the #💼hiring channel of our Discord server for more information.

Calling all Community Moderators

A community moderator has closer discussions and interactions with the team and other mods, with the primary purpose of guiding community members to the proper channels or documentation.

Some of the critical tasks would be:

  • Providing necessary information to the community
  • Educating the community on our services and products
  • Addressing community members’ problems and issues
  • Moderating community groups to keep a positive environment (fud, behavioral problems, scammers, etc.)
  • Hearing out member concerns and having a dialogue before giving a warning for violating rules
  • Managing comments and discussions
  • Providing input on community engagement and activities, feedback, etc.
  • Staying professional and polite at all times
  • Remaining empathetic to other community members during times of frustration
  • Reporting to @Product team for any technical questions/problems mods can’t handle
  • Directing technical and support related questions to the 🛰support channel

Community Moderators are the leading examples of supportive community members of the project. Mods act as a bridge between the team and the community by being on the front lines, representing the team and the project as members of its community.

(Re)Join our Mission

There is an abundance of opportunities to build values together. So, as we embark on this new mission over the coming lunar cycles, we ask that you, our beloved community of Explorers who have helped get us to where we are, rejoin our pledge. We have learned many lessons from our previous voyages through the DeFi spectrum and count our lucky stars, realizing that we have much to give back to our community.

We hope you’ll come along for the ride!

Thank you for your continued support,

MoonTools Team
